🌷 Being in teens...
Poetess : Tilottama Vijay Lele
Being in teens with dreaming eyes
One remembers all of those stories...
D mountains look lovely from far
From near they're rough n bizarre
Behind closed doors we were scared
It was hard to face d voice in d head
Tracing d dying flame of d fire
That once we carried within desire
Often Der's a witness-like-feeling
From outside as if, we're watching
A time when One was a teenager,
Lying awake at night, thrilled n eager
Praying to make us adult overnight,
So it'll make sense of everything right
Adults do look sorted n kind of free.
Thought they resembled a huge tree
Then, we knew what exactly we wanted
Teenagers R pretty clear sighted
But nobody around seemed to get it.
They dismissed dreams n plans forthright
We thought let's pray n wait.
Until we'd grow up n reach an adult-age
Then they’ll respect whatever we’d say
Hence One started counting d days
As if waiting for a trip that was a dream
Once we get there, all will fall into place
All our questions will have answers,
We’ll be free to make our own choices,
N money won’t be such a big deal
Becuz One’ll be in charge of d life
Then years passed by, with hope in mind
Finally we got in d gear to face d world
Things started to feel off, with dizziness
We didn’t see coming, how it’s senseless
It’s nothing like what we had pictured
We’re not at all excited but totally bored
Truth is simpler, crueler than One thought
Growing up won’t give clarity of life either
Being teenager it truly complicates more
Though passionate, our ideas were clear
Though we didn’t know d outside-world,
But then we understood our-own-world
Teen-ager-rage n opinions that burned
Parents always got our heads covered
N that alone felt like pretty enough.
Now rain is constant but Der's No cover
One's expression used to be d power
Now feels pointless like a collapsed tower
Caught in our two versions that stare
We're not sure which one we miss more
