🌷 Let's Enjoy D Life's Rhythm...
Poetess : Tilottama Vijay Lele
Anything in excess can be a headache
Der's a paradox of Self-Awareness
Self-Awareness is a double-edged sword
Trap of overthinking, we can't afford
If we chanel this skill, it acts like a boon
But excessive criticism can be a baboon
Overthinking can be a curse
“Self-aware” person mostly suffers
Problem is unique n healing is hard
But we're not ready even to start
We're reflective n understanding.
Truly conscious of each action n wording
Each n every move we make/take
Not getting on nerves, we stay quiet
Sometimes we become empathetic.
We accept d actions though problematic
Even a minor Lil inconvenience
Never goes unnoticed by us…
Der's a strong ache in noticing things
We're aware of shift in someone’s voice
A change in behaviour we easily notice
We overthink our intentions n prioritize
D decisions over our emotional reactions
We wonder n criticise d decisions
What'd it be if we never made d mistake
Initially it's like our maturity isn't fake
We're emotionally intelligent
N Der’s no room for everyone in our life.
But slowly, it turns to poison our blood
Becuz our self-awareness turns into flood
We become aware of everything we do.
Every thought, every feeling, every flaw
There is room for improvements…
We full-time observe our own sentiments
Then we start punishing ourselves…
Often for things, not even done by us
People do things n forget in seconds
Still we cringe over trivial incidents
We over analyse our tone, our words
Our reactions n with it comes self-blames
We fear being accountable for our actions
We wear them like invisible necklaces…
We adjust. We cut, we edit ourselves
To fit into d perfect expected frames
Which we've constructed strictly for us
Otherwise we won’t forgive ourselves
In doing all of this, we lose something.
Deep inside d essence n charm of being
Who we're beyond empathy.
When we work on our self-esteem
We don’t realise it can be toxic
Unknowingly we become self-critic
We do our best not to hurt anyone,
Even if we get hurt many times, alone
We measure mistakes as catastrophic,
As if World'll reject us unless we self-edit
We become like a bridge
One's a prisoner n other’s a guard to seize
All d time we doubt our intentions.
We question our worth n intelligence
We become more n more self-aware
Of how we come across if we spare
N gradually, it ruins our confidence.
Pretending it as emotional intelligence
We think through every possibility
From other person’s perspective only
Emotionally-intelligent people do that
Sensitive people often fall into this trap.
Not bcuz they're powerless to do anything
Bcuz they feel a lot about everything…
We too deserve days, noons, nights...
When we realise not to overthink
No one has right to swing us back n forth
Just like a pendulum on a clock.
Being self-aware is to see beauty in us
N enjoy beautiful things around us
It always helps us to reflect
Der is pride in being open-minded
Avoiding response to religions n races
An ache to notice things in details
We don’t miss d shift in someone’s voice
A change in behaviour, we won’t miss
Let's control our urges of self-criticism
N choose to enjoy d Life's rhythm
