🌷 Witnessing Life…

🌷 Witnessing Life...
Poetess: Tilottama Vijay Lele

We spend so much of life, just trying…
To make each moment mean something

Forgetting that moments R beautiful
Becuz they're not always meaningful

We turn life into a collection of tasks,
N live life as if wearing faulty masks

We walk to reach certain number of steps
Read books to know what's best…

Travel, so we can remember it later…
Sit with people, thinking we're better…

We R present, but only halfway…
D other half of us is somewhere away...

Arranging next moments to make it easy
We think Der's nothing wrong to be busy

It's human about having places to go…
To meet people n different things to know

D problem begins only when we become
So occupied with living our lives

That we act lifelessly just like machines
N forget to actually enjoy Li'l moments

We don't spare time to sit by a window
Watching rain fall, rhythmic n slow

We don’t want a metaphor from d clouds
Or a lesson from d changing seasons

We drink tea while it's warm,
Hear ordinary sounds other than d alarm

We can feel d ground beneath our feet,
N let d experience of few minutes exist

Not turning them into useful-something…
Der's a kind of freedom in doing nothing

Perhaps being present is not always
Some profound spiritual practice...

It is listening, when someone speaks
Instead of preparing for our relationship

It is eating when we're hungry...
N sleeping when we're ready...

To have a day with nothing remarkable
N yet it's worthwhile n memorable

We don’t need to abandon our plans
Or stop wanting more from life-span

We can still chase our little dreams,
Answer messages, meet our deadlines

Make mistakes, fall in love, begin again.
We can be hopeful, ambitious n uncertain

We watch d rain blurring buildings,
Follow a flying bird until it disappears…

It's such a contradiction of human mind,
To look away from us to know d thing…

We don’t need to examine every wound
To know that it hurts or not profound

That‘s what ordinary moments teach us,
N return without announcement or fuss

D kettle hums, d ceiling fan turns lazily
Someone laughs somewhere happily…

We wait for life to become meaningful
N forget, “it hides in things that R trivial”

Life doesn’t ask us to understand it…
Sometimes asks to stay n witness it…
